1. Why have I not seen this book before?
We published a limited edition of 1000 copies of the book in Ireland in 2004. As much as we approached a few shops and wholesalers in the UK to distribute it, by and large, most of the copies we sold went abroad to the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Given that it is written in the style of a thesis and it is not a ‘pretty, shiny, glossy book with lots of pretty colourful photos of crystals in it’ - many shops don’t want to sell it - as only really dedicated students will want to read the deeper esoteric facts about crystal healing. It contains thorough explanations that generally contradict many present day belief structures of the subject. It clearly explains why for instance crystals are not associated to chakras by their colour; and this could immediately reduce the sales of such items as ‘chakra bracelets’ and ‘chakra balancing kits’... So many shops preferred not to stock it.
2. How many pages does it have and what size is it?
It has 242 pages and is A5 size, each copy weighs about 500g, it is printed on quality, heavyweight paper.
3. Is it difficult to read and understand?
Well this really depends on you and what type of literature you have read before. It is easy for some people and quite difficult for others. That is because - it contains profound details about energetic reality - to considerable depth. If people have not have taken study of the subtle anatomy of man or the inner planes and their respective laws; naturally a lot of the information would be entirely new to them and therefore not easy to ‘digest’. That is not to say that if it was the first book on crystal healing you bought - it would definitely be hard to understand - it all depends on you.
Imagine that to describe the answer of why a crystal has a particular healing quality - you need to imagine this ‘answer’ sitting on the top of a pyramid composed of several layers of different colours... In order to appreciate the question you need to understand the level(colour) immediately beneath it... Yet to understand this level, you need to understand the next level beneath that - and so on down to the ground level... This is because you firstly need to appreciate that we exist in a multidimensional universe; everything that exists that you are aware of - also has to have several ‘other levels of reality’ too. The ‘answer’ to the question lies in the evolution of subtle energies; but to simply say that will mean nothing to you - unless you understand the various ‘steps’ of evolution and subtle reality in general. It’s not enough - (in our opinion) to simply say ‘this stone has that quality’... there needs to be an explanation why it has that quality; without the explanation - you can not be sure if the stone does in fact have such a quality - or indeed another one...
Some folk that have bought The Element of Harmony have found it hard reading, while others found it plain sailing; we heard of one lady in Dublin reading it non stop, cover to cover in 11 hours! That is exceptional though! By far the most common feedback we get - is that folk find it ‘refreshing’ or ‘stimulating’; mainly because they have never read such details anywhere before. None of the information in the book is taken from any other book at all; it is entirely the result of Nat’s personal examination of the energetic reality of healing with mineral energies; after all - if she can see exactly what is going on herself; why would she read other peoples’ opinions about ‘what goes on’...!
4. Why did you self-publish it and not use one of the more established publishing companies?
Mmmmm.... Having plenty of experience in the book trade, we know only too well how difficult it can be to get a book accepted and published. Even when a book is accepted it can be two or more years before the final published book makes it to the bookshop shelves. We didn’t want to wait that long. However the greatest reason we had for doing it all ourselves was that this was always going to be a controversial book; it contains exposures on a lot of the false beliefs and blind assumptions that so many folk consider to be truths. We knew it would not be immediately accepted without a lot of editing; and we felt that we didn’t want to remove or hide the facts that we’d discovered just because the book wouldn’t sell well enough to satisfy a publishers’ marketing strategy. We were in no hurry to sell it... The folk that have found their way to getting a copy did so because they were meant to have that information.
In essence, we wanted full control of the text and diagrams (all 107 of them) and that is something no established publisher would agree to; so we did it ourselves!
5. Why is it controversial?
It contains thorough explanations why chakras have nothing to do with psychic development, why 99% of all crystals and minerals do not need to be energetically ‘cleansed’. Why, when a healer might ‘work on a chakra’ during a healing exercise - they don’t actually work on the chakra at all. Why a large proportion of current crystal healing practice does not involve the energies of the crystals and stones ‘used’ at the time... Why it is usually a waste of money to buy a ‘gem essence’ or ‘gem elixir’ from a shop. Why 60 - 70% of polished stones are not worth using for healing with the stones energies. Why ‘grids’ or ‘nets’ of Quartz crystals laid around a person in any particular patterns can make no energetic difference at all.
Is that enough?! All of these statements are completely explained in the book. Often it is the clear case that the beliefs are built from supposition with no obvious clear understanding of energetic reality or laws. When you can ‘see’ the subject from the inside, you can quickly realise the facts. Irrespective of what many people want to believe, this book has been published and will only become more and more widespread as it is reprinted with further future editions. It’s principle is the ‘transformation of information’.
6. Why did we write the book?
The reasons why we wrote The Element of Harmony are quite simple. We had several questions about crystal healing and in particular – about the therapeutic properties that crystals and minerals were supposed to have, but we could not find satisfactory answers to our questions in any available published books.
The two most significant questions were:
If a crystal or mineral possesses healing qualities – why does it do so?
Exactly how do crystal or mineral energies actually interact with the health of the body or mind?
We looked at many different books on the subject of crystal healing, and we could not find the answers that we were looking for. Many writers approached the key subject matter – but although they would discuss various ideas, none would actually, definitively explain the how’s and why’s of the core issues. We were disappointed to find that many writers seemed to completely ignore the issue – and were content just to provide their opinions of therapeutic qualities for all sorts of minerals and crystals, without even a hint of explanation for such qualities.
This led us to the thought ‘how do we know what we are reading is accurate’? If so many writers might say various crystals and stones have various qualities, but neglected to explain why they held such opinions – how could we be sure that this or that writer was actually telling the facts as they are reflected in Nature?
Now some people might suggest that perhaps we were looking for something that could not be found simply because we wanted such depth of explanation and that nobody but ourselves would want such depth. That is a fair point. It might be that everyone else was content to read and learn of other peoples’ opinions regardless of whether they really did explain the facts or not. However, we did find that, when we mentioned our quest to others – they would often say: ‘oh, I never thought of that’ and ‘now that you mention it, I do get a bit frustrated by the lack of background and explanation’… ‘ there’s so much airy fairy-ness in crystal books’…
As we are in the retail business of marketing natural crystals and stones, we were well positioned to do our own research; with virtually any mineral available to us. We began our research, with clairvoyant observation of the various mineral energies and those of the body, of thoughtforms and of other influences. To begin with, we had no intention of writing and producing a book to be sold.
